COLFAX – On Friday at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, and local emergency crews from the Lacrosse area responded to a report of a single-engine plane crash near a small airstrip on SR 26.
Initial reports indicate 65-year-old Kevin Kennedy of Arlington, WA was flying from Arlington to Colfax when his single-engine plane lost power and subsequently crashed. Kennedy sustained serious injuries and was flown from the crash site to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane via Life Flight. No other passengers were on board at the time of the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and will be conducting a joint investigation into the cause of this accident.
