Pair of Warrior Basketball Players Net Conference Player of the Week Honors

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Both LC State Basketball teams swept their weekend schedules, with the No. 22 Warrior women taking down No. 25 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) twice and the (RV) men winning both contests of the Clearwater River Casino & Lodge Classic. Callie Stevens and Davian Brown were voted the Cascade Conference Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their strong play over the weekend.

CALLIE STEVENS – WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEKStevens was key to the No. 22 Warriors’ sweep of No. 25 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) over the weekend. The junior guard tallied 15 points in the first contest on Friday, and hit big baskets when the team needed it most in the double-overtime victory on Saturday.

Stevens dropped 28 points in the second game of the weekend, fueled by five 3-pointers and 11 total field goals. She grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in the 80-73 win. Stevens averaged 21.5 points in the two games and shot 50 percent from 3-point range while averaging six rebounds, 4.5 assists and three steals per game. This is the first conference weekly award this season for Stevens and fifth in her career. 

The Warrior women continue their homestand with an exhibition against NCAA Division III Whitman College on Thursday at 6 p.m. before taking on Montana Tech on Saturday at 4 p.m.
DAVIAN BROWN – MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brown had a standout weekend to help lead (RV) LC State to a pair of victories in the Clearwater River Casino & Lodge Classic over the weekend and was voted the tournament’s MVP. The guard from Pasadena, Calif., averaged 19.5 points per game with 15 against Park Gilbert (Ariz.) and a game-high 24 against Rocky Mountain (Mont.).

Brown was efficient with a .560 field goal percentage and was 5-for-11 from 3-point range (.455). He dished out five assists and grabbed eight rebounds.
 
This is the first conference weekly honor at LC State for Brown. 

The LC State men continue their homestand with a contest against Providence (Mont.) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
