(Pullman, WA) Pullman Police Chief Jake Opgenorth has apparently been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation from the Washington State Patrol.
Credible sources that wish to remain anonymous confirm with Pullman Radio News that Chief Opgenorth is on leave. PRN reached out to the City of Pullman’s spokeswoman Meghan Ferrin about Chief Opgenorth’s status. Ferrin responded by saying she has been instructed to direct those questions to Mayor Francis Benjamin. Mayor Benjamin read a statement to PRN only saying that a city staffer has been placed on leave due to a “personal matter.” Mayor Benjamin failed to identify who is on leave but revealed law enforcement involvement. He stated that the issue was brought to the city’s attention nearly a week ago by the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office and it’s now being investigated by the Washington State Patrol. The staffer was placed on leave last week on Tuesday.
