| WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Juan Pablo Quisoboni shot an incredible 6-under, 66 to hold a three-stroke advantage and help the No. 20 LC State Men’s Golf team take an early lead after the opening round at the Whitman Confluence Invitational. THE MEN Quisoboni dominated the front nine with six birdies and three pars. The Bogota, Colombia, native had one misstep on No. 13 with a bogey, but a birdie on 18 gave the senior a dominant first-round lead Oscar Behle, Alex Navarro and Hunter Millsap all finished with rounds of 71 for the Warriors to sit tied for sixth. Millsap is playing as an individual. “The men played well,” coach Zach Anderson said. “Juan was clicking today. He played some very disciplined golf and executed nicely.” LC State was the only team to finish under par in the opening round, going 6-under, 282, and has an eight-shot lead going into the final round on Monday. NCAA Division III teams Pacific Lutheran and Whitworth are currently tied for second place at 2-over, 290. THE WOMEN Kyla Currie continued her strong year with a 2-over, 74 to sit in a tie for fourth place. Teammate Natalia Gomez carded two birdies on the back nine to also finish with a round of 74. “The women shot their lowest round of the year for the third straight round,” Anderson said. “Kyla and Natalia grinded it out for the 74s.” The Warriors sit in a tie for third place with Whitman at 312. The NCAA Division III defending National Champions George Fox shot a team score of 293 to hold a five-shot lead over Whitworth who is in second place after the first round.
