She served as Faculty Senate chair and was a member of the President’s Cabinet in 2022-23. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration-finance and a master’s in organizational leadership, both from Gonzaga University.

Toy is slated to become interim chair of the Teacher Education & Mathematics Division, replacing Mark Haynal who is returning to a faculty role. Toy has been at the college since 2018 and serves as an associate professor as well as director of the college’s Pathways to Accelerated Certification & Endorsement program. He has a bachelor’s in music education and a master’s and doctorate in special education – teaching the gifted and talented, all from the University of Northern Colorado.

Pearson-Smith will become chair of the Nursing & Health Sciences Division after serving as interim chair for the past academic year. Currently an associate professor, she has taught at Lewis-Clark State College since 2009, while also being employed at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center as a nurse from 2001-2023. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from LC State and a master’s in nursing education from Idaho State University.

“On behalf of the college, I sincerely thank our former chairs for their dedicated service,” LC State Provost Fred Chilson said. “I welcome Jenny, Royal, and Michelle to their new roles and have full confidence that they will lead their divisions to continued success.”
