WORLEY – “Sometimes it’s your turn,” is how a Silverton woman described her $149,655.26 jackpot at Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel last week.

It certainly was her turn and then some. It was only her third spin of the day on a Dragon Cash machine upon arriving for an afternoon of play at the casino.

“My husband and I had just finished eating lunch and I was just getting started,” she said. “I wasn’t prepared for that, so I started screaming.”

She could have kept on screaming because, within 30 minutes of hitting her nearly $150k jackpot, she hit for four more hand pays – one for $6,200 and three more for more than $2,000 each. In total, her afternoon of winnings at Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel grossed more than $162,000.

Not bad for a retiree who typically visits the casino on average once a month. She said some of the money is going to a kitchen renovation that was already underway, another chunk went to a new reclining chair she bought for herself, and the rest went into the bank.

“And we already paid our federal taxes from the winnings, so that’s already taken care of,” she said. “The last time I won $102,000 I didn’t have the federal taxes deducted immediately, and that was a mistake. That hurt when Uncle Sam came around the next spring.”

The woman always plays in the High Limit room, and she finds her monthly visits more than just recreation.

“Because I’ve been coming there so long, they know me and treat me like family,” she said. “They’re always so nice, and the High Limit room isn’t crowded or smoky. It’s why I like to go there.”
