Six athletes from the Martial Arts America Competition Team from Austin Arnett’s Martial Arts America in Lewiston, Idaho and coached by Sydni Stocks, competed in Southern Idaho on Saturday, September 30, 2023, earning 12 medals! Athletes traveled to Eagle/Boise for the Treasure Valley Karate Invitational hosted by Treasure Valley Booster Club and Sensei Vanessa Perkins of Meridian, Idaho. The competition team has three new competitors, Averie Hendren, Marcus Dixon, and River Holt, who all showed impressive results in this tournament. Averie winning a triple crown in her division by placing 1st place in all of her divisions, River earned 1st place in sparring and Marcus earning 4th place. It was River and Marcus’ first karate tournament. The team is very proud to support these athletes, among others who were unable to compete at this event.
Rhyli Stocks (15-year-old Black Belt Female) – 2nd Place in Kata, 3rd Place in Kumite (sparring) and Kobudo (weapons)
Aaron Sauve (12-year-old Intermediate Brown Belt Male) – 1st Place in Kata and 3rd Place in Kobudo (weapons)
Lily Olson (11-year-old Intermediate Brown Belt Female) – 2nd Place in Kumite (sparring) and Kobudo (weapons) and 3rd Place in Kata.
Averie Hendren (11-year-old Green Belt Female) – 1st Place in Kata, Kumite (sparring), AND Kobudo (weapons)
River Holt (8-year-old Beginner Belt Male) – 1st Place Kumite (sparring)
Marcus Dixon (7-year-old Beginner Belt Male) – 4th Place Kata
Martial Arts America Competition Team: Sydni Stocks, Rhyli Stocks, Will Musser, Aaron Sauve, Lily Olson, Averie Hendren, Kya Svancara, Conley Svancara, Marcus Dixon, River Holt, and Vic Holt. The Competition Team will travel to Walla Walla, Washington in November of this year to compete in the Walla Walla Karate Invitational hosted by Sensei Dave Lybbert of the Karate Center (Walla Walla).
