(Spokane Valley, WA) On January 5, 2025, at approximately 5:30 pm, Spokane Valley and Spokane County Deputies responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision on N. Tschirley Road just north of E. Dalton Avenue. Deputies were advised that Spokane Regional Emergency Communications (SREC) Officers were providing instructions to the caller, and CPR was in progress.

Spokane Valley Firefighters arrived and took over medical care. When Deputies arrived, they secured the scene and learned the adult male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The adult male driver remained at the location and cooperated with Deputies/Investigators.
Traffic Unit Investigators and a Spokane County Sheriff’s Chaplain responded to the location.
Initial information indicates the driver of a Subaru was traveling north on Tschirley Road when he encountered a Kia parked on the east side of the roadway, protruding into the travel lane.
The Subaru driver stated he was looking at the Kia as he passed and suddenly noticed an object in front of his car. He swerved, trying to avoid the collision, but was unsuccessful. He stopped, called 911, and began CPR with instructions from SREC until he was relieved by medical personnel.
Investigators later learned the pedestrian had made a delivery on the west side of the Tschirley and was crossing the roadway, returning to his Kia, when he was struck.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the fatal incident. The Subaru driver was later released without charges.
The investigation remains active, and no additional information is available.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the decedent’s name at a later time when appropriate.
