Stagecoach Road Access Gate to be Closed Starting Today

December 16, 2024

(Nez Perce County) Nez Perce County is closing the gate on Stagecoach Road effective December 16, 2024  through February 28, 2025 due to road conditions and increased construction vehicles with the Avista project. The opening date of the gate is subject to change depending on the weather and road conditions.

Avista plans to rebuild approximately 8 miles of the Lolo Oxbow 230 kV transmission line from near Waha and Powell Roads to just south of Lake Waha in Nez Perce County

This work is scheduled to begin February 1, 2025 and continue through the end of May 2025. Over the next several months, Avista and their contractors will be accessing and inspecting the line as they prepare for this work

What to expect

Crews will be replacing the existing wood poles with new steel poles. They will also be upgrading the conductor

Access to the rightofway (ROW) will be through the use of existing and historically used access routes. Some of these routes may need improvements to accommodate the heavy equipment, but any improvements will be restored when the project is complete

What’s next

This December, Avista will request multiple power line construction contractors to provide a proposal to reconstruct the line. You will likely see increased activity in your area as these contractors will be accessing the ROW to assess and inspect the line.

If during construction any damage occurs to your property, Avista and their contractors will repair the damaged property. Also, Avista will reimburse you for the cost of the crops damaged throughout this project
