CLARKSTON, WA – Two individuals were arrested on February 16th in connection with the alleged theft and fraudulent use of a debit card, according to a report from the Clarkston Police Department.
Officers took 31-year-old Aaron Drews into custody at 10:30 a.m. on Maple Street. He was charged with second-degree theft and first-degree identity theft. Approximately 80 minutes later, officers arrested 32-year-old Dylan Evenson near Walmart. Evenson faces multiple charges, including three counts of second-degree theft, first-degree identity theft, and third-degree theft.
According to the arresting officer’s report, the investigation began on February 10 when a man reported his wallet missing from his vehicle. He later discovered unauthorized transactions on his debit card, including an $81.94 charge at Taco Bell. Surveillance footage from the restaurant allegedly showed Drews and Evenson placing an order using the stolen card.
On February 16th, officers located Drews and questioned him about the incident. Drews reportedly admitted that Evenson had found a wallet while they were walking on 3rd Street. He stated that Evenson removed cash from the wallet before discarding it in nearby bushes. The two then allegedly used the victim’s debit card to purchase food. Drews was taken into custody following the interview.
Later that morning, officers detained Evenson, who allegedly admitted to taking money from the wallet and using the debit card. He later led officers to a residence where the stolen wallet and additional bank cards belonging to the victim were recovered.
Both suspects were booked into jail. The case remains under review by prosecutors.
