Two Suspected Burglars Behind Bars After Property Owners Help Deputies Track Them Down.

COLFAX, WA– Early Sunday evening, deputies from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a possible burglary in progress just south of Rosalia. The property owners spotted the two suspects attempting to steal a 4-wheeler from a detached garage on the property.

Once spotted by property owners the pair drove away on the stolen 4-wheeler through adjoining fields to where it is believed they had a vehicle parked. The property owners then observed the pair driving away in a tan-colored SUV and followed them in the direction of Oakesdale.

A short time later Whitman County deputies observed the vehicle in Oakesdale where they could stop and identify the occupants. Both occupants were later identified by the property owners as the individuals they observed on their property taking the 4 wheeler.

49yoa Rown Jokinen and 49yoa Michael Gunion, both of Spokane were taken into custody and later booked into the Whitman County Jail on a variety of property crime-related charges including Burglary and Theft. The pair are scheduled to have their first appearance in Superior Court Monday Afternoon.
