MOSCOW, Idaho — Aug. 15, 2023 — From a captivating musical to an exuberant comedy to magical realism, the University of Idaho Department of Theatre Arts’ upcoming theatre season offers something for everyone, including new works.

Sept. 22-24, “First Bite New Play Series” is a fall showcase for emerging U of I Master of Fine Arts playwrights, featuring free staged readings of new works. Each performance is followed by a question-and-answer session with the playwright.

Oct. 26-Nov. 5, “Amelie (The Musical)” is an enchanting and captivating musical that explores themes of self-discovery, friendship and the transformative power of dreams. It is produced in partnership with Lionel Hampton School of Music and directed by Craig A. Miller and Vern Sielert, orchestra director, with Christian Reed, music director.
Nov. 30-Dec. 3, “What the Constitution Means to Me” is a paean for basic fairness highlighting both the brilliance and betrayal of our constitution, especially when it comes to women. It stars Kelly Quinnett and is directed by David Lee-Painter. Idaho Repertory Theatre is hosting this performance.
Feb. 1-11, 2024, “Go, Dog. Go! (The Musical)” is an exuberant and hilarious musical adventure for the whole family that brings to life the whimsical world of dogs. The story is based on the classic children’s book by P.D. Eastman.
