Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse to Provide Overnight Warming Center Location

January 12, 2024 (Moscow, Idaho) — The Palouse region is currently experiencing colder-than-normal winter weather conditions and potentially dangerous wind chills over the next several days. The City of Moscow, the University of Idaho, and Latah County have partnered with the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse and the American Red Cross. For community members in need of warm shelter during the evening hours, the Unitarian Universalist Church has graciously opened its doors to support the community’s needs. The Unitarian Universalist Church is located at 420 East Second Street and will be open nightly from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. beginning on Friday, January 12, and ending at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17.

Anyone who wishes to volunteer to provide food or staff the facility can contact the Unitarian Universalist Church at 208-882-4328 or sign up for volunteer opportunities at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B49ACAA22A1FE3-47218307-warming.

For community members in need of warm shelter during the day, the City of Moscow Hamilton Indoor Recreation Center (HIRC) multi-purpose room will open to the public during the following hours of operation:

Friday8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Sunday1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Monday8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
