Updates Available for Learning-Loss Grants for Idaho Families

BOISE – An online form is available for parents who are curious about a grant program aimed at combatting learning loss among Idaho students.

The form, located on the State Board of Education’s website, allows parents to receive updates on the $50 million Empowering Parents Grants, which the Legislature passed to help families cover the cost of a number of educational needs — such as a laptop, internet access, learning materials, or physical or occupational therapy.

Families making less than $60,000 will get the first shot at the money. Recipients can receive up to $1,000 per student, or $3,000 per household.

The grant is still in “early development,” the State Board’s website reads, but parents can fill out the form for updates until the registration window opens later this summer.

The form and subsequent updates are available in English and Spanish.
