On 6/18/2023 at about 0155 hrs, Asotin County Deputies were dispatch to a single vehicle accident in the 2500 block of 13th Street. When deputies arrived, they located a Blue Ford F150 with severe damage from impacting the dirt embankment on the west side of the road. The vehicle had been occupied by 5 male juveniles. Deputies located 4 male juveniles standing by the pickup. Deputies were directed to a 5th male with severe injuries that had been ejected from the pickup approximately 30 feet
Deputies started performing lifesaving efforts on the male juvenile. Lewiston Ambulance transported the male to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center with severe injuries.
Upon initial investigation deputies found that the juveniles were northbound on 13th Street from State Route 129. The vehicle was being operated at a high rate of speed and was unable to negotiate a left hand corner. The vehicle lost control impacting the embankment with the front of the pickup spinning the pickup around and impacting the embankment with the rear of the pickup. The pickup came back onto the road way, coming to rest on the pavement. Speed and alcohol are believed to be a factor in the accident.
Washington State Patrol was requested to assist with the crash investigation which is continuing.
