Lewiston, ID- Last night the VFW presented the State of Idaho Paramedic and Firefighter of the Year awards to two Lewiston Fire Department employees.
Battalion Chief Dave Chenault was presented the paramedic of the year award. Chief Chenault was nominated by his peers for an outstanding career demonstrating a record of extraordinary and courageous service to the community. Chief Chenault is truly a premier example of all EMT’s and his award reflects the proudest ideals and values of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Dave has been a member of the fire department since March of 1988.
Fire Chief Travis Myklebust was presented the firefighter of the year award. Chief Myklebust was also nominated by his peers for his extraordinary commitment in keeping with the esteemed core values and traditions of the firefighter profession, further manifested by the high degree of admiration and respect for both his peers and the local public he serves. Chief Myklebust is truly a role model to all firefighters and this honor reflects the proudest ideals of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Chief Myklebust has been with the fire department since December of 1991 and will be retiring May 31, 2023.
