(Lewiston, ID) Both Lewis-Clark State Basketball teams opened Cascade Conference play with victories over Walla Walla and garnered weekly conference honors in the process. Darian Herring continued to be a wall at the basket while MaCarhy Morris led the men’s team in scoring en route to CCC Athlete of the Week honors.
DARIAN HERRING – WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Herring grew her NAIA-leading blocks per game margin to 3.83 per game with a career-high seven blocks against Walla Walla on Tuesday. The sophomore is the only player in the CCC, male or female, with double-digit blocks with a commanding 23. She scored 18 points to lead the No. 14 Warriors in the conference opener and added five rebounds and five assists. Her defensive efforts directly led to nine points.
This is Herring’s second conference weekly honor of the season and second of her career.
The Warrior women continue CCC play this weekend in Seattle against Northwest (Wash.) and Evergreen State (Wash.).

MACARHY MORRIS – MEN’S BASKETBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Morris led the No. 21 Warriors in scoring with 20 points in the first CCC victory of the season. The sophomore guard shot .471 from the field (8-for-17) with four 3-pointers. He added eight rebounds, six assists and three steals to his night. His steals and rebounds directly resulted in 10 points for LC State.
This is the first weekly honor of his career.
