(Lewiston, ID) LC State Track and Field bolstered its roster for the spring with the addition of javelin thrower Caleb Sprenger. The freshman will start competing for the Warriors during the outdoor season.
Sprenger, a native of Athena, Ore., is a graduate of Weston McEwen High School where he holds the school record in the javelin with a mark of 176’4”. He has personal-best marks of 6’1” in the high jump, 42’7.5” in the shot put and 125’3” in the discus. Sprenger helped the Tigerscots to two second-place finishes at State and was earned All-State recognition nine times.
“Caleb will be a huge addition to our javelin team, and I can’t wait to see what he can do,” assistant coach Jacob Whittaker said. “He has the right attitude, a strong work ethic and the athletic ability to push his teammates to improve. Despite joining mid-year, Caleb has already adjusted well to the demands of collegiate athletics. When I first met Caleb, I knew he would be an excellent fit for our program. He doesn’t need to say much and he lets his work speak for itself. Seamlessly blending in with his new teammates, Caleb has proven himself a dedicated athlete who shows up, puts in the effort, and embraces the challenge. We are excited to see what Caleb will accomplish this season with his drive and determination.”
Sprenger was a three-time Academic All-State honoree and also competed in basketball and football.
