January 27, 2025

(Lewiston, ID) Lewis-Clark State Track and Field won three of the four Cascade Conference Athlete of the Week honors on Monday after multiple national qualifying marks at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open hosted in Idaho. Emily Collins, Griffen Parsells and Sydnie Zywina each had standout weekends en route to their awards.

EMILY COLLINS – WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Collins had a busy weekend on the track with a pair of B standards at the McCluskey Open. The junior started the weekend with the 400m leg of the women’s distance medley relay that ran the sixth-fastest time in the NAIA this season at 12:19.98 which ranks fifth in the LC State record book. On Saturday, she broke her own record in the 600m with the seventh-fastest time in the NAIA this season at 1:35.35.

This is the first weekly honor of Collins’ career.

GRIFFEN PARSELLS – MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Parsells dominated the collegiate runners in 800m with a career-best and third-fastest time in program history. His time of 1:52.58 is an A standard and ranks seventh in the NAIA this season. He was second in the event at the meet only to LC State alum Clayton VanDyke.

This is the first weekly honor of Parsells’ career.

SYDNIE ZYWINA – WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Zywina commanded the field in the triple jump at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open on Saturday. In the field of primarily NCAA Division I athletes, the senior was the lone competitor to clear 12 meters with an A standard of 12.02m. The mark ranks third in the NAIA this season.

This is Zywina’s fourth weekly honor of her career and first this season.
