Warrior Volleyball Makes it Four Straight Wins at Evergreen

OLYMPIA, Wash.– The Warriors took down The Evergreen State College on Friday for the team’s fourth straight win in Cascade Conference action. LC State Volleyball had strong nights from Juliana Forgach Aguilar and Kenzie Dean in the three-set match to take the sets by scores of 25-21, 26-24, 28-26.

Forgach Aguilar continued her hot streak with 16 kills, while Dean continued her historic career with 23 digs on the night. LC State now sits at 6-7 in CCC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Back-to-back kills by Forgach Aguilar and Missy Mortensen put LC in front 2-0 before a run by TESC had the Geoducks ahead 6-3. A kill by Anna Merrill, ace by Esther Kailiponi and kill by Sofie Langer had the Warriors back within one, and a kill by Gianna Anderson tied the set 7-7.

Kills by Forgach Aguilar kept LC State within one as the set went on. Mortensen notched a kill before joining Anderson on a block to fuel a five-point run to put the Warriors ahead 16-13, and Anderson and Karissa Lindner added kills to make it 19-15. Solo blocks by Hallie Seaman and Lindner moved the score along and a kill by Mortensen helped close out the set 25-21.

A kill by Forgach Aguilar, block by Mortensen and Merrill, and tallies by Makenzie Stout and Anderson has LC up 4-3 in the second set. A pair of Seaman kills sandwiched an ace by Ashlee Bachman to give the Warriors a 10-9 advantage, and kills by Mortensen and Merrill made it 13-13. The duo added on to give LC a 17-14 lead and Lindner tallied back-to-back kills to break at 17-17 tie. Anderson used an assist from Seaman to make it a three-point run.

Lindner slammed down a kill to snap an Evergreen run at 23-20. Back-to-back kills by Forgach Aguilar ended the set 26-24.

Anderson tallied the first kill of the third set for LC State before two by Merrill made it 3-2 Warriors. Kills by Anderson and Forgach Aguilar maintained a back-and-forth battle. The Geoducks pulled ahead 17-14, but a kill by Forgach Aguilar and ace by Dean had the Warriors back within a point at 20-19.

Swinga by Forgach Aguilar and Lindner knotted things up 22-22. Forgach Aguilar added two more before back-to-back kills by Mortensen and Anderson ended the long third set 28-26.

Forgach Aguilar led the match with 16 kills and Anderson added nine. Abbey Neff dealt 20 assists to go with Kailiponi’s 17. Dean picked up 23 digs to push her career total to 1,544, just shy of fourth all-time at LC State (1,558). Stout collected 11 digs and Natany Felix Guimaraes tallied 10.
