Warrior Women Hold Steady at No. 7

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A strong start to Cascade Conference play has the Lewis-Clark State Women’s Basketball team holding steady at No. 7 in the latest edition of the NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches Top 25 Rating, released by the national office on Wednesday. The Warriors are at the top of the CCC with a 9-1 conference record and 13-2 overall heading into the second half of conference action.

 

LC State wraps up the first half of CCC play this weekend in Portland against Warner Pacific and Multnomah before heading to Evergreen State and Northwest the weekend after. The Warriors have won 10 of their last 11 and are riding a five-game winning streak after big wins over then-No. 20 Southern Oregon and previously undefeated Oregon Tech.

 

LC State leads the conference in field goal percentage (.450), 3-point percentage (.330), steals per game (11.6), turnover margin (3.87) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3).

 

Ellie Sander is second in the conference in field goal percentage (.529), second in 3-point field goal percentage (.414) and third in assists per game (3.8). Callie Stevens is third in 3-point percentage (.388) and 3-pointers made per contest (2.7). Darian Herring is third in blocked shots per game (1.9) and second in total blocked shots (28).

 

The Warriors are the top CCC team in the rankings. OIT joined the top 25 at No. 20 while SOU fell four spots to No. 24.

 

UP NEXT

The Warriors travel to Portland, Ore., to take on Warner Pacific on Friday and Multnomah on Saturday to begin a four-game road trip.
