Warrior Women Win Team Title, Bryden Brown Win’s First Individual Crown

3/10/2024 | Randy Isbelle | Sports Information Intern
LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The No. 23 Lewis-Clark State Women’s Golf team dominated and Bryden Brown took home his first individual title on the men’s side at the Logger Invitational at the Oakbrook Golf Club on Sunday.

THE WOMEN

The Warriors rolled to a team victory and finished 50 strokes ahead of second-place DIII Pacific. LC State shot five strokes better as a team in the final round over its efforts yesterday. Five of the top seven individual leaders were Warriors.

“The women put together a solid round today to get the team win,” Anderson said. “We posted our two best rounds of the year in this tournament.”

Kyla Currie started clean with six straight pars en route to a second-place finish with a round of 6-over, 78 to finish 8-over on the tournament. Currie was six strokes behind individual winner Bead Boonta of Pacific.

Deana Caruso shot five strokes better than she did on Saturday and moved up to third place at 11-over on the tournament. Isabella Barquet, Natalia Gomez and Dallis Shockey finished as part of a four-way tie for fourth place.

“Couldn’t have asked for a better comeback tournament after a rough Vegas event,” Anderson said. “Very proud of these women.”

THE MEN

Brown earned birdies on Nos. 2 and 7 and shot an even par-71 to force a playoff with Koen Solis of NCAA Division III Pacific Lutheran. Brown won the playoff and his first individual crown.

“Bryden played very consistent golf and got the job done,” coach Zach Anderson said. “He is a great player, leader and person.”

Freshman Luke West bettered his first-round score by three strokes for a 1-over, 73. Alex Navarro started his round off with a birdie on the opening 504-yard par-5 and finished with a 5-over, 76.

As a team, the Warriors improved by six strokes from the opening round on Saturday and finished in fourth place.

“Lots of work to be done if this team wants to compete in a tough Cascade Conference,” Anderson said.
