Weather Service Issues Excessive Heat Warning for Coming Week

SPOKANE – The U.S. National Weather Service of Spokane on Sunday issued an excessive heat warning for the inland northwest. Temperatures are expected to be 8-17 degrees above normal for this time of year, potentially setting new records.

During times of excessive heat, the CDC has several recommendations to help prevent heat-related illness:

  • Wear appropriate clothing
  • Stay cool indoors
  • Strategically plan outdoor activities
  • Wear sunscreen
  • Do not leave children or pets in cars
  • Stay hydrated
  • Check in on those at high-risk
