LEWISTON – Webber International (Fla.) defeated 11-5 Georgia Gwinnett in a loser-out face-off on Monday to advance in the Avista-NAIA World Series.
Georgia Gwinnett took an early lead in the bottom of the first with 2 RBI singles ending the inning with a score of 0-2. Webber International answered, scoring 4 runs over the next 2 innings, starting the 5 with a game score of 7-3.
The score held until the top of the 7th when Webber International 3 more runs, 2 of which were unearned. They would go on to score 1 more on a sacrifice RBI in the top of the 8th.
Georgia Gwinnett came back with 2-run home run in the bottom of the 8th, but that would be all from them.
Webber International will face either the loser of Game 11 or 12 on Tuesday at 3:00.
