ASOTIN – Firefighters from around the valley gathered at Asotin County Fire District #1 Thursday night to kick off wildland fire season training.
Over 40 firefighters were on hand from City of Clarkston Fire, City of Asotin Fire, Asotin County Fire District #1, Clearwater Paper Fire Department,Washington Department of Natural Resources and City of Lewiston Fire. The goal was to start training in wildland and grass fires, preparing for the upcoming 2022 fire season.
Firefighters reviewed safety procedures, communications and discussed lessons learned from 2021. The long range forecast is for significant fire potential for our region by July. Firefighters continue their wildland training though spring and summer as they prepare for the worst.
Asotin County Fire District Chief Hardin said this is a great opportunity for Firefighters Valley-wide to get together and discuss safety and working together as one team.
