Wolf Lodge Steakhouse A True North Idaho Landmark

September 7, 2024

On September 2, 2024, at approximately 12:15 PM, Kootenai County first responders were called to the scene of a fire at the iconic Wolf Lodge Steakhouse. As the flames grew, additional resources were quickly dispatched.

Upon arriving at the scene, I saw the deep emotion etched on the faces of longtime managers Shawn and Nicole Martel, and their family. It was clear that what was being consumed by the flames was more than just a building—it was a place woven into the fabric of our community. Wolf Lodge Steakhouse had been the setting for countless community events, family celebrations, and memories that will live on in our hearts. The warmth of the grand interior fireplace, the cozy dimly lit ambiance and the delicious food will be remembered by all who experienced them.

On behalf of the entire Sheriff’s Office, every resident of Kootenai County and myself, we extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Lisa Engle, Shawn, Nicole, and their family during this difficult time. We honor the immense dedication, hard work, and passion you poured into making Wolf Lodge Steakhouse the beloved establishment it was, a true North Idaho landmark.
