Women’s Basketball Earns Highest NAIA Ranking Since 2018 at No. 7

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lewis-Clark State Women’s Basketball has won three straight Cascade Conference contests since the last NAIA Women’s Basketball Top 25 Ratings were released, and the Warriors were rewarded with the No. 7 spot in the latest edition released on Wednesday. The ranking is the highest the program has been since January of 2018. LC State holds a record of 7-1 overall and 3-0 in CCC play heading into the weekend.

 

The Warriors currently lead the CCC in 3-point field goal percentage (.315), assists per game (18.9), steals per game (12.1) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3). LC State one of two CCC teams that remain 3-0 in conference play, along with Warner Pacific.

 

Maddie Holm leads the CCC in rebounding (10.1), while Ellie Sander leads in 3-point field goal percentage (.419) and assist/turnover ratio (2.7). Sander is third in field goal percentage (.565) just behind Sitara Byrd (.588), and is also fourth in steals per games (2.5) while Byrd is fifth (2.4). Freshman Darian Herring is second in blocked shots per game (1.9). Heading into another weekend of Cascade Conference play, Callie Stevens leads the team in scoring with 15.3 points per game.

 

Cascade Conference foe Southern Oregon moved up one spot to No. 20 and Oregon Tech is receiving votes. Eastern Oregon fell out of the top 25.

 

UP NEXT

The LC Warriors host the Corban Warriors on Friday and Bushnell on Saturday for another full weekend of Cascade Conference play. LC State will close out the calendar year on Dec. 20 at home against Walla Walla.
