LC State to hold Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on April 24

LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State College Student Counseling Center & Health Services office is holding a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Wednesday, April 24, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the college’s library parking lot, near the campus entrance at 7th Avenue and 5th Street.

The event is free and open to the community and is co-sponsored by the LC State Health & Wellness Committee and the Lewiston Police Department.

Faculty, staff and students, along with community members, can drop off prescription and over-the-counter medications, supplements, vitamins and pet medications, expired or not, during that time. Participants are asked to remove any personal information on the container but leave the medication information visible. Needles, syringes, inhalers and liquids will not be accepted.

Studies show 70% of Idahoans 12 and older who abuse prescription drugs get them from friends and family. By the time a student is a sophomore in college, nearly half their classmates are offered the opportunity to abuse a prescription drug, according to the Idaho Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Workgroup.
