17-Year-Old LifeFlighted After Head-on Collision with School bus

COLFAX, WA- Wednesday morning, Whitman County deputies and emergency
crews from the Colfax, Endicott, and Lacrosse Fire Departments responded to the report of a two-vehicle head-on collision on Endicott Rd, one mile east of Endicott WA.

The initial report indicated the collision involved a School Bus and a late model passenger vehicle, which reportedly had rolled over onto its top with one occupant reportedly trapped inside.

After emergency crews arrived, they spent approximately 30 minutes extricating the 17-year-old driver from the wreckage. The teenager, from Diamond, WA suffered injuries to his arm and was transported via Life Flight to a Spokane Hospital.

The driver of the Endicott School Bus had just started her bus route and had no children or passengers on the bus at the time of the collision. She did not sustain any injuries from the incident.

Initial investigation indicates the 17-year-old male driver was traveling westbound when he fell asleep and drifted into the oncoming lane of travel. The bus driver took evasive maneuvers to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful.
