20 YEARS OF ARTWALK EXHIBITION OPENS AT THE THIRD STREET GALLERY

April 16, 2024 (Moscow, Idaho) — The City of Moscow and the Moscow Arts Commission announce the opening of 20 Years of Artwalk, an exhibition on view at the Third Street Gallery starting on April 18, 2024.

The exhibition celebrates the 20th anniversary of Artwalk, an event that brings the literary, performing, visual, and culinary arts to the streets and businesses of Moscow. Artwalk began in 2004 and was a one-night-only event for many years. In 2021, it expanded to offer monthly events on the 3rd Thursday of each month from October to June, with the Artwalk Season Finale including a Main Street fair with food, music, and art vendors.

The Artwalk poster is the visual centerpiece of the event’s promotions, featuring the work of 26 visual artists in layouts designed by 5 different graphic designers. In 2008, the City of Moscow Arts Department began to collect the artwork featured on each poster. Those artworks, part of the City’s Portable Collection, are on display along with each poster representing a year of Artwalk history.

In addition to the exhibition on the 2nd & 3rd floors of Moscow City Hall, The Box Gallery on the 1st floor presents erasure poetry made during a workshop led by Moscow Poet Laureate, Stacy Boe Miller.

The public is invited to attend the artist reception on April 18 from 4 – 6 p.m., which will feature live music by Paul Busch and refreshments by Sisters Cookies.

The exhibition will remain on display until Friday, July 5, 2024.
