(Meridian, ID) Idaho State Police are investigating a vehicle collision which occurred early Monday on westbound Interstate 84 at mile marker 42, in Ada County.
According to police, a Kia Rio and a Subaru Impreza were traveling westbound on Interstate 84 at about 2:30 a.m. The Kia struck the rear of the Subaru, which left the roadway. The Kia was disabled in the lane of travel when the driver exited the vehicle and was struck by a Mitsubishi Mirage that was also traveling westbound on the interstate.
The driver of the Kia, a 23-year-old man from Meridian, succumbed to his injures at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Subaru, a 32-year-old man from Caldwell, and the driver of the Mitsubishi, a 25-year-old woman from Caldwell, were not transported for injuries.
Three lanes of travel on I84 were blocked for approximately three hours, allowing emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
