(Moscow, ID) A serial thief from Moses Lake has pleaded guilty to stealing a generator from a home in Colfax.

25 year old Hunter Grant pleaded guilty to 3rd degree theft and trespassing in Whitman County Superior Court on Friday morning.  Court Commissioner Doug Robinson agreed with the prosecution’s recommendation and sent Grant to jail for 45 days and placed him on probation for two years.

Grant stole the generator from a home on North Cedar Street on the morning of November 29th.  He was wearing a mask during the theft and was confronted by a neighbor as he was hauling the generator to his girlfriend’s vehicle.  The neighbor was able to get the plate number on the car and contacted Whitman County Sheriff’s Deputies.  Deputies determined the vehicle was from Moses Lake and informed law enforcement in Central Washington.  Moses Lake Police located the vehicle and arrested Grant who had the generator.  The generator was returned to its rightful owner.

The 25 year old’s criminal history includes convictions for vehicle theft, theft, burglary and assault with a deadly weapon.  He is currently facing charges in Grant County involving a vehicle burglary from early November.
