Women’s Basketball Climbs to No. 6

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The LC State women continued their climb up the national rankings on Wednesday with a jump to No. 6 in the NAIA. The Warriors hold a record of 21-2 overall heading into the final two weeks of the regular season and sit at the top of the Cascade Conference.

 

LC State has won 13 straight games with four regular-season contests to go. The Warriors avenged their loss to Bushnell, their only loss in CCC play, with a victory over the weekend. This weekend marks the final home contests ahead of the postseason, and the regular season wraps up against No. 22 Southern Oregon on Feb. 23 and No. 25 Oregon Tech on Feb. 24.

 

The Warriors lead the CCC in scoring margin (18.3), field goal percentage (.464), 3-point percentage (.355), assists per game (18.3), steals per game (11.9), turnover margin (4.87) and assist/turnover ratio (1.4). On the national scale, LC State ranks seventh in the NAIA in field goal percentage and assists per game, and 12th in 3-point percentage.

 

Callie Stevens is fourth in the conference in scoring average (16.9) and third in 3-pointers made per game (2.8). Lindsey Wilson leads the Cascade in field goal percentage (.566) and Sitara Byrd is fourth (.506). Ellie Sander leads the CCC in 3-point percentage (.416) and assist/turnover ratio (2.2) and is third in field goal percentage (.526), second in assists per game (4.1), fourth in steals per game (2.4). Darian Herring is third in blocked shots per game (1.6).

 

SOU climbed to No. 22 in the rankings and OIT fell to No. 25.

 

The Warrior women host Multnomah on Friday and Warner Pacific on Saturday. LC State will host a Teddy Bear Toss on Friday and Senior Night on Saturday.
