Air Quality Advisory Lifted for the Nez Perce Reservation

July 31, 2024

Air quality has improved across the Nez Perce Reservation. The Air Quality Advisory is lifted. Although air quality conditions are improved, depending on fire and wind activity, wildfire smoke may move in and out of the area and some areas may be more impacted than others.

Air quality is currently in the “Good” category of the Air Quality Index (AQI). To track regional air quality, visit the AirNow Fire and Smoke Map or the Idaho Smoke Blog. Follow AQI health recommendations and review AQI Basics.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare has two charts that may be of interest:

Community Guide for Staying Healthy During Wildfire Events and School Activity Guidelines for Wildfire Smoke Events.

Those who experience greater health effects from smoke include children under 18, elders, pregnant women, people with asthma or have difficulty breathing, diabetes, heart problems or otherwise compromised health, and people who have high exposure (those who work, exercise, or spend extensive time outdoors). Under the most severe pollution levels, sensitive groups should avoid outdoor exposure and limit indoor activities, and everyone should restrict their outdoor activities.
