An Ordinance Lifting the Emergency Burning Ban within the Unincorporated Areas of Asotin County

 

Whereas, conditions have improved with the combination of cooler temperatures, increased and decreased fire danger; and

Whereas, air quality levels are adequate with the change in conditions; and

Whereas, the Asotin County Fire Marshal is authorized to determine when conditions merit, that any emergency burning ban can be lifted within the unincorporated areas of Asotin County.

Now, Therefore, the Asotin County Board of Commissioners recognizes the change in conditions and the decreased threat to the public. In response thereto, the Board does declare an emergency action in order to avoid time consuming notice requirements so that agricultural and recreation fores can commence without further delay; and

Herby Resolved, that ordinances 23-27 shall be rescinded and the county-wide burning band within the unincorporated areas of Asotin County is herby lifted.

The effective date of this ordinance is September 25th, 2023./ At this time, recreational fires shall be allowed; HOWEVER, THE CONTROLLED OPEN BURNING PERIOID FOR ACCEPTABLE YARD DEBRIS IS NOT OPEN UNTIL OCTOBER 15TH 2023, AND CONTINUING UNTIL THE REGULAR ENDING DATE OF DECEMBER 15, 2023.
