(Washington, D.C.) The Biden Administration announced student debt cancellation for another 55,000 people on Friday morning, with a price tag of $4.8 Billion.

This latest round of student debt relief is specifically for public service workers and brings the total number of individuals who have been approved for student debt relief under the Biden Administration to nearly 5 million people through various actions.  Those approved for debt cancellation today include teachers, nurses, service members, law enforcement officials, and other public service workers.

“Over the last four years, we have made significant progress for students and borrowers – including securing the largest increase to the maximum Pell Grant award in over a decade,” said a Thursday morning statement from the White House.

To date, Biden’s various student loan programs have granted around $180 Billion in debt relief.
