(Lewiston, ID) A bull moose was found by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game on December 1 along Zaza Road near Lewiston. Fish and Game enforcement officers are seeking the public’s help to identify the poacher.

According to a press release issued by Fish and Game, “The moose was shot with a rifle along Zaza Road on the Craig Mountain Wildlife Management Area, south of Larabee Road and was likely shot on or about November 29th. Unfortunately, none of the meat was able to be salvaged and the entire animal was wasted. Moose are considered a trophy species in Idaho. No person may harvest more than one antlered and one antlerless moose in Idaho during their lifetime, except Super Hunt tag winners and leftover tag holders. No moose tags are issued for the Craig Mountain area within unit 11.”

Any tips or information can be provided by calling the Idaho Citizen’s Against Poaching Hotline, 1-800-632-5999 or Conservation Officer John McLain 208-827-1488. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
