KANSAS CITY, Mo. – LC State Track and Field standout and Lewiston native Jennah Carpenter was voted the NAIA National Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the national office on Wednesday. The sophomore dominated in the high jump at the Whitworth Invite over the weekend. She is the first LC State athlete to earn the national honor this school year.
Carpenter had a busy weekend with multiple national-qualifying standards. The highlight of the meet came with a record-breaking leap in the high jump (1.70m). She ranks second in the NAIA in the event, and finished with a 3,340 total in the first pentathlon of her career. She placed second at the meet and ranks eighth in the NAIA. Carpenter also ran a leg of the 4x400m relay team that hit the B standard with a time of 3:57.51, which ranks 13th in the NAIA this season.
