AUSTIN, Texas – Devon Caruso made history on Wednesday when he became the first Lewis-Clark State golfer to be voted a CSC Academic All-American. The fifth-year senior earned a spot on the 2022-23 Academic All-America Men’s At-Large Second Team after a stellar final campaign as a Warrior.
“Academic All-American is a huge accomplishment and a very fitting way for Devon to end his LCSC academic and athletic career,” Head Coach Zach Anderson said. “From the minute I accepted the job, I told our players academics come first. Devon already knew this but took that statement and ran with it. He embodies what a student-athlete is, being able to manage being a successful student along with also being a successful athlete. Devon oozes with leadership and I can’t wait to see the success he has in his next steps in life.”
Caruso, a native of Pomeroy, Wash., completed his career as a two-time All-Cascade Conference honoree and served as the LC State Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) president in his final year. Prior to serving as president, Caruso was the group’s treasurer.
“Thank you to my teammates for challenging me and pushing me every day to be a better player, teammate and leader,” Caruso said. “LC State provided me with many opportunities and lifelong friends that I will be forever grateful for. I am blessed to call myself a part of the Warrior family.”
Caruso graduated with a 3.87 GPA and earned a degree in Accounting with minors in Marketing, Business Administration and Communications.
