City of Lewiston Report on LHS Lockdown

Carol Maurer, Public Information Officer | City of Lewiston

On March 3, 2023, at 8:51 am, a caller reported to the Lewiston Police Department
(LPD) that they heard shots fired inside Lewiston High School (LHS). Upon police
arrival, LHS administration immediately activated their emergency protocol and placed the school in lockdown. During the lockdown, Lewiston Police officers searched and secured the LHS campus and the Neil DeAtley Career Technical Education Center. As a precautionary measure, the Lewiston School District placed all other schools in secure procedures. After a complete security assessment of the campus, LPD determined no shots were fired and there was no threat to students and staff. The lockdown was lifted at 9:42 am and students resumed normal activities.

The safety of students and staff is paramount and the Lewiston Police Department encourages anyone to call 9-1-1 if they see or hear suspicious activity.

Nez Perce County and Idaho State Police assisted with the response.
