Clarkston Man Injured Following Single Vehicle Rollover Accident on Downriver Road

LEWISTON – On September 10th, 2022, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Lewiston Police responded to a single vehicle, rollover accident with unknown injuries on Downriver Road, near the Idaho/Washington State line.

Upon arrival, officers found a red, 2007, Pontiac G6 on the railroad tracks below the roadway with significant damage. The subject inside was initially unresponsive and Lewiston Ambulance transported the subject to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

The Lewiston Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Team (MCIT) responded to investigate the accident. After reviewing evidence left at the scene and speaking to the driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, it was determined that the Pontiac, driven by 24-year-old, Clarkston resident Archanopf Ntumba, was traveling Westbound on Downriver Road. Mr. Ntumba failed to negotiate a turn and briefly left the Northside of the roadway, before over-correcting back onto the roadway and then left the Southside of the roadway, went down an embankment where his car rolled one time, and ended up back on its wheels on the railroad tracks below the road.

It is believed excessive speed is a factor in this crash and charges are expected to be filed.

The Lewiston Police Department wants to remind everyone to slow down, obey the speed limit, and wear their seatbelts. Mr. Ntumba was later released from the hospital with minor injuries.

Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call Lewiston Police Officer Chris Smith at 208-746-0171.
