(Lewiston, ID) On October 16, 2024, at 5:07 p.m. the Lewiston Police Department received a report of an alarm triggered at Lewis Clark Credit Union (LCCU) located at 604 Bryden Ave. Dispatch also received numerous 911 calls from LCCU employees reporting an irate female credit union member yelling and fighting LCCU employees. Officers arrived on scene and located the female suspect in the passenger seat of a vehicle located in the ATM drive through of LCCU. The female suspect was later identified by officers as 27 year old Savannah Calene of Clarkston, WA.
Officers made contact with Calene at the drive through and ordered her out of the vehicle. Calene refused to comply with the officers’ commands and attempted to enter the driver seat of the vehicle once the driver exited the vehicle. Officers gained physical control of Calene to prevent her from fleeing in the vehicle. Calene resisted and battered officers as they removed her from the vehicle. Calene was placed under arrest for resisting/obstructing officers and battery on a police officer.
Once Calene was secured in handcuffs, officers spoke with LCCU staff. It was discovered Calene entered LCCU to withdraw money from her checking account. Calene claimed to have deposited a check the week prior. However, this check showed to be fraudulent and the money was not deposited into her account. Calene became argumentative with LCCU staff when they told her the check was rejected. Calene then entered the employee area of the bank and attempted to open several drawers located at the teller stations. LCCU staff attempted to keep Calene away from the drawers as she used physical force to push past them. Witnesses stated Calene was demanding money from LCCU staff and demanded to know where the safe was located. LCCU staff were able to physically control Calene and force her out of the bank.
Calene was subsequently booked into the Nez Perce County Jail on the two felony offenses: attempted robbery and burglary. She was also charged with resisting and obstructing officers and battery upon an officer. No injuries were reported by LCCU staff.
