The Oaksdale Library will have a digital photo presentation/scanning event. September is the month to find out everything you’ve ever wanted to know about Whitman County Library’s online digital photo collection. In addition to the presentation and display, the team will scan historically significant photos for you. Schedule an appointment to bring up to 15 photos or documents to be digitized and added to our online collection. Your original photos will return home with you, along with a complimentary thumb drive with digital copies. Presentations are open to everyone; scanning will be done by appointment only

Moscow Public Library will have baby time starting at 10:30 a.m. Children and their caregivers are invited to a series of outdoor storytimes on the library grounds. Babytime, ideal for babies and toddlers age 0 to 3, includes books and songs. Caregivers must participate and bring a blanket or towel to sit on to create their own socially distanced space. Masks are encouraged for adults. Spots are limited: first come, first seated. Storytimes will occur outside during nice weather and inside when the weather turns colder.

The Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre presents “The Fly” from 7 – 9 p.m. Moscow Film Society presents “The Fly” as part of its Cronenberg vs. Lynch series. Jeff Goldblum shines as a brilliant but eccentric scientist who begins to transform into a giant man/fly after one of his experiments goes horribly wrong. Part sci-fi, part horror and part bizarre comedy, the film is all David Cronenberg working at the height of his powers.

Pullman Depot Heritage Center will have a talk called “The Lost Women of the Library” from 7 – 8 p.m. A Palouse People talk about Neill Public Library, which celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. The library was founded by women who were members of the Association of University Women. Although they were purportedly “lost to history” in an era when women were identified publicly only by their husbands’ names – W.C. Kruegel, John Fredrick Bohler, H.V. Carpenter, Homer Dana, and C.N. The Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre will have a presentation of No Soundtrack for Old Men from 7 – 9 p.m. Pumice Pocket, a progressive funk and jazz fusion band from Moscow, will perform a live musical soundtrack to the Coen Brothers’ adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel “No Country For Old Men.” The integration of a live soundtrack will give fans of the movie a different perspective in which to view it while new audience members will be treated to a once-in-lifetime match of live music and academy award-winning film
