Electrical Malfunction the Likely Cause of Saturday Night Fire in Lewiston

LEWISTON – At 9:55 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, the Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of Silcott Street. First-arriving crews found light smoke in the attic of the residence.

According to a release from the department, crews attacked the fire in the attic space with a pre-connected hose line and the fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes. Personnel remained on scene for another hour to check for extensions and overhaul the fire.

The department responded with three (3) structural engines, three (3) ambulances, three (3) chief officers, and an engine from Clarkston Fire.

The cause of the fire is likely an electrical malfunction in the wiring above the bathroom.

The estimated damage to the structure and contents is $10,000.

There were no citizen or firefighter injuries to report.
