Grangeville Fire Restrictions Area Rescinding Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

As of 12:01 A.M. PDT on Friday August 23rd the Grangeville Fire Restrictions Area will no longer be under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. Fire Wardens and Fire Management Officers from the Nez Perce Tribe, Idaho Department of Lands, Bureau of Land Management, Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protection Association, and the Forest Service have collectively decided to remove/rescind Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for the Grangeville Fire Restrictions Area. (see attached map or visit here: https://www.idl.idaho.gov/fire-management/fire-restrictions-finder/ ).

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for North-Central Idaho have been in effect since July 22nd for this area, but with recent cooler weather in combination with favorable weather forecasts over the next 7-10 days officials have decided to lift these restrictions.

Even though we are experiencing cooler temperatures and some scattered rain, fire managers are still asking the public to remain cautious when recreating and spending time outdoors. There is still potential for accidental human starts in many areas of North-central Idaho. As a reminder, fireworks are still prohibited on all federal, state, and private forestland and rangeland, and on public lands, roads, and trails in Idaho during closed fire season (May 10 through October 20.)

Please visit https://www.idl.idaho.gov/fire-management/fire-restrictions-finder/ for a detailed map and current information regarding fire restrictions, or contact your local land management office.
