GREG RIGHTMIER APPOINTED NEW FIRE CHIEF FOR CITY OF LEWISTON

Lewiston, ID- The City of Lewiston is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Rightmier as the new Fire Chief for the Lewiston Fire Department. Greg, who has served as Interim Fire Chief for approximately four months, brings a wealth of experience and a demonstrated commitment to the safety and well-being of our community. Greg’s journey to this position is marked by a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades. Starting as a dedicated firefighter, he advanced through the ranks, recently serving as Deputy Fire Chief. His exemplary administrative experience and unwavering leadership as Interim Fire Chief have been invaluable.

Mayor Dan Johnson expressed his confidence in Greg’s appointment, emphasizing, “Greg Rightmier’s dedication and expertise have been evident throughout his tenure. He
is the right person to lead the Lewiston Fire Department into the future.” Leadership from the Western Fire Chiefs Association, which is the professional firm that
assisted the City with its recruitment process, echoed the sentiment, affirming that Greg “possesses the personal and professional characteristics that hiring agencies value.”
The Lewiston Fire Department, a cornerstone of the Lewis-Clark Valley emergency response community, is renowned for its exceptional Emergency Medical Service (EMS) care, Fire Suppression, Rescue, and Prevention services. “As we look ahead, evaluating coverage standards, staffing levels, and service delivery methods will be essential,” Chief Rightmier said. “Continued collaborations with neighboring agencies, hospitals, and Lewis-Clark State College will be instrumental in achieving our goals.” www.cityoflewiston.org

remains pivotal.”

“Additional financial backing will be necessary as we explore service delivery
enhancements and plan for the future to address increasing demands for service.
Equally vital is the implementation of the 2020 Fire Station Facility strategic plan to
maintain response times and service excellence,” Chief Rightmier said.
