Habitat House #36 Groundbreaking scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8

November 1, 2024

(Lewiston, ID) Groundbreaking for the 36th home built by L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity (LCV HFH) will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 8 at 1535 Alder Ave., Lewiston.

The event is open to the public and will also be broadcast live on the local Habitat Facebook page.

When finished, the house will become a home for a family of five, selected through the LCV HFHF application process.

The L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Habitat for Humanity is a faith-based organization that helps lower-income families repair and own homes. Volunteers build the houses with donated materials, which allows them to be sold with low-interest mortgages. Family members put in 250 hours of “sweat equity” per adult so they help work on their own home and other Habitat for Humanity projects.

LCV HFH is also accepting applications for future Habitat homes that are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 15 to the office at 2200 8th Ave., Lewiston.

About L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity

Our local affiliate first started in 1991 with a focus on building and renovating simple, decent, affordable housing for the residents of Nez Perce and Asotin counties. To date, with the help of our valued community partners, generous contributions from donors, and countless hours of volunteer labor on home builds, we have been fortunate enough to construct 35 homes here in the LC Valley and are planning to start building Habitat home #36. We truly believe that our work is part of a greater community-wide effort to improve the place we all call home.

L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, faith-based organization devoted to changing lives through the practice of “giving people a hand up, not a hand out.”
