Herring Becomes First Warrior Women’s Basketball Player to Earn National Weekly Honor

(Lewiston, ID) Darian Herring continued to make history for Lewis-Clark State Women’s Basketball on Tuesday when she became the first player in program history to be voted the NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week. She becomes the first to win a national weekly honor after recording the first triple-double in school history over the weekend.

Herring notched the first triple-double at LC State, male or female, on Saturday with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Her rebound and assists totals were career-highs. The feat followed up a career-high eight blocks on Friday to tie the LC State single-game record and she surpassed 100 blocks in her young career on Saturday. Herring averaged a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds per game and totaled 13 assists, five steals and 12 blocks.

She was voted the Cascade Conference Defender of the Week for the third time this season before moving on to the national ballot.

LC State hits the road for key matchups against No. 4 Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech this weekend.
