Hit and Run Driver Takes out Power Box on Thain

(Lewiston, ID) On May 31st, 2024, at 0116 hours, officers were dispatched to a property damage accident in the area of 10th Street and Thain Road. The driver left the scene after striking and destroying the white box which stores all the wiring for the lights and intersection.

The damage was severe and knocked out the power to the lights for this intersection, Lewiston’s traffic department was called and placed stop signs making this a four-way intersection until the repairs can be done. The lights will be out for an undetermined amount of time due to the damage.

Officers located the pickup involved, unoccupied at a different location, but the driver was not located. The pickup has been impounded until the driver can be identified and charged.

The Lewiston police department asks that drivers use caution and obey the stop signs in place.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, the Lewiston police would like to remind drivers to not drink and drive.

The investigation is continuing.
