On October 12, 2023, around 1:45 AM, Idaho County deputies were on routine patrol when they noticed a suspicious pickup and trailer parked in the parking lot at Nom Noms gas station in Grangeville, Idaho. The pickup was running, had only one headlight illuminated, was attached to a trailer with no license plate on it, and there was a male sleeping in the driver’s seat. The pickup and the trailer were loaded down with miscellaneous property.
Idaho County K9 Mic performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted. The deputies then made contact with the driver. When he exited the vehicle, the deputies observed a meth pipe in plain view. They also saw a large zip lock baggie on the floor containing a white crystalline substance. The substance in the bag tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
The deputies also discovered personal property belonging to several other individuals, some linking back to open investigations involving
storage unit burglaries from other counties. The search of the vehicle was stopped, the vehicle was secured in our impound lot, and deputies are applying for a search warrant to further search the vehicle.
Jacob Barnes, age 47, of Jerome, Idaho was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony unlawful possession of a firearm,
misdemeanor possession of a legend drug, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
